Prayer Items * * * * * * * * 01/16-22/2008 ADORATION In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me! Psalm 29:1 Let us come before our God and rest in Him. He is our refuge; in Him we can find rest. CONFESSION and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them. I King 8:50 Acknowledge and confess any sins we have committed against our Father and our fellow men. Pray that He grants us the strength not to sin again. THANKSGIVING giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians 5:20 We offer our thanksgiving to the Lord who is our strength and shield for the past year. May we keep our thankful heart for all the blessings He bestows on us. SUPPICATION Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! Psalm 4:1 Around the World 1. Republic of Cameroon : is one of Africa 's most ethnically complicated countries with over 500 different peoples speaking more than 280 languages. Many significant leaders in the society became Christians. May their influence bring positive change into the country. Unfortunately, the spiritual poverty of the churches is the country's greatest tragedy. Many church leaders have been a part of the corruption culture with pride, power struggles and misuse of church money. Pray that godly leaders can restore biblical values to the church. Pray for the missionaries needed to reach communities living in the north, many of whom are Muslim. The Jesus film has been translated in 10 languages and 63% of the population have watched it. Pray for the 70 more language versions being made. 2.. Pray for the election process of this country. May the Lord provide the right candidate for our time and need. May we be responsible and thoughtful citizens. 3. Pray for the moral standards of this country, especially for the babies born without fathers. May God have mercy on our nation and may we turn to God and walk with Him. O ur Church and Other Ministries 4. Pray for Pastor Hsueh as he prepares to preach in both services this week. May the Lord grant him the insight and gift in communicating effectively and powerfully. May God grant the congregation a desire and thirst for God's word. 5. Pray for the candidacy of the Youth minister, David Carter. May God continue to guide David and HCC in the decision making process and for His to be evident to all. 6. Pray for the New Heart Ministries team as they minister in Taiwan . May the Lord provide for their needs, grant them good health, protection, extra strength and Spirit-filled unity and harmony. 7. Pray for the Salt and Light Association fund-raising concert on Saturday, 1/26. May the Lord's name be lifted up and the event be a great testimony for our community. 8. Pray for smooth and efficient transition and scheduling of the children from Sunday school to graded children's choir. 9. Pray for the Handbell choir enlistment that there will be a full choir. May the first rehearsal on 1/20 be fruitful. May God grant Dorna Ling wisdom and strength. 10. Pray for the publication of “Sweet Spring” issue headed up by HCC. May God use this publication to glorify Him and edify His people 11. Pray for the Wednesday morning ministry that more brothers and sisters will participate and reap the benefit in fellowship and wisdom. 12. Pray for the selections and compilation of a Chinese worship songbook. May God provide the co-workers needed in typing, copyright permission, appropriate software and other details. 13. Pray for Pastor Tow in finishing the final touch of his dissertation --- for wisdom, efficiency and concentration in time management. Individuals 14.Pray for Henry Mui (severe back pain), David Liu ( recovering from surgery), Yan Xie's mother in China (post surgery recovery) Joy Liu who will undergo surgery tomorrow, and Jana Wang who is receiving 24-hour continual chemo treatment. Continue to pray for those receiving treatments and recuperating: Xin Shu Qin, Jana Wang, mother of Emmanuel and Samuel Lin, Lesley Chong's father, Julia Jing Xu, James Wang's mother, Lingwen Li's mother, Yong Wu's mother, Cynthia Chan's father, Ed Fong's grandfather, Shirley Huang, Liang Zhang, Hushan Yang, Lee Ying Wang, Jing Li, Zili Geng, and Mony Tsoi's mother. 15. Pray for patience and perseverance for those seeking new employment opportunities, especially Weilie Pang, Jianping Zhao and Tim Welch. 16. Praise the Lord for the birth of baby boy, Matthew, to Selina and Eddie Lei on 1/5/08. May God watch over the expectant mothers: Linong Xiu, Susana Lau and Connie Chau.
