Valued

In Africa , a man needs to give a dowry to his father
in-law for the hand of his daughter. If she is uneducated, she is worth
one cow. If she is educated, she is worth 5 cows. There was a young lady
that grew up in a difficult home and her appearance was always dreary
and sad. Her parents were concerned if anyone would marry her. One day,
a man came to her father to ask for her hand and offered to give a dowry
of 10 cows. The father could not believe his ears. The daughter was in
shock when she heard of it. Since that day, her view of herself totally
changed. Her speech, her posture, her appearance, her behavior changed.
She acted like one that is greatly valued. As a result, she spoke confidently;
she lived a meaningful and happy life because she knew she was cherished.
If we feel that we are valued and loved, we act differently.
Do you know that you are greatly valued by God? “God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God valued us so much
that He provided a means for us to be a child of God through Jesus Christ.
