Food For Thought
Do
I love Jesus? Pastor

Do I love Jesus? If one bases love on deeds,
then I suppose I can say I do—giving to church, hosting meetings, and
teaching Sunday school. But in my devotions, Spurgeon speaks about
a condition of loving Jesus, “If you do not desire to know him better,
then you love him not, for love always cries, “Nearer, nearer.”
Is my love for the Lord crying for me to know him better? If not
then perhaps my service has no love, but only duty or guilt.”
I then started to think about the way I relate to others.
If I just do things for people without any care to know them, but to be
nice or to be responsible, then what do I have? Nothing. Get
to know the people you serve, because true love always cries, “Nearer,
nearer.”
