Immersion

Time
flies. It is hard to believe that it has been two months since I became
a summer intern at HCC. I was asked what was
my feeling for the inte r
nship so far. Among
many positive perspectives, there was a negative one
. I felt that I was not efficient because I am a person who
likes to concentrate on one task at a time. It generally takes me a little
time; say 20 minutes or half an hour for me to get involve. However, during
the week there are many meetings, discussions and conversation
and other distraction. I have the feeling that I am not very
efficient in what I have to do. Then I realize
that i t is the same
in our spiritual life. We might spend 5 minutes to read the Bible and
pray in the morning hoping we can build an intimate relationship with
God. Many times we are not satisfied with our spiritual life especially
when we compare to the great men of faith in the past. Actually, this
can be said that you reap what you sow. Only if we spend time to immerse,
steeped and infused ourselves in him can we truly build a relationship
and communicate with God. I remember a very descriptive and a popular
term in China in describing when someone is in love and courting. It describes
how one has to “ ? pao
” or soaked in the
person you are interested in. If we wish to build a relationship, we have
to spend time and completely devoted
in the process. May we all immerse in the word of God and the communion
with Him.
